Sub:Bar-coding of library documents and Installation of digital Library
ABC Engineering Library has no bar-code facility for book transactions. As on 1 January 2012 library have more than 24050 documents including CDs/DVDs. Here book transactions were operated by manually typed and written method.
Library automation and bar- coding of documents helps faster library transactions, easy stock verification and cross-checking of documents. Computerized Indexing with bar- code of books and Digital Library are mandatory norms for approval of Engineering college.(Refer : Handbook 2011-2012)
Implementing bar-codes in library requires following hardware and software:
1.Barcode Scanner(s);
2.Barcode Printer, Toner ,Self-Adhesive-Sticker-Papers;
3.Database of Library Holdings (Available in MS-Excel format in Library );
4.Library soft ware(s) compatible with day to day bar-code operations.
5.Personal Computer-2 (One for circulation counter and one for OPAC-Online Public Access Catalogue)
Implementing Digital library requires following hardware and software:
1.Personal Computer with server OS (Available in Library );
2.Scanner;(B/W scanner available in Library );
3.Digital Library soft ware(s) .
